Elected Official of the Year! NASW-Ohio Region 5

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) – Ohio Chapter is excited to announce that The Honorable Terri Jamison has been selected as the 2020 NASW Ohio Region 5, Elected Official of the Year. NASW Ohio’s region 5 includes Athens, Belmont, Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Gallia, Guernsey, Hocking, Jackson, Licking, Madison, Meigs, Morgan, Monroe, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Pickaway, Ross, Union, Vinton and Washington counties in central and southeastern Ohio. NASW Ohio honors the Elected Official of the Year Award in recognition of the responsibilities and challenges of public service. The award is given to an elected official who has made significant contribution to public service while in office. This individual must demonstrate leadership in advancing public policy in the area of vulnerable populations, civil and human rights, or social welfare. The award is given to an elected official who truly exemplify the social work values of service, social justice, dignity and worth of all people, the importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence. The Honorable Terri Jamison was selected for this award based on her track record of service to her community as a judge, educator, advocate, and volunteer. As a juvenile court judge, Jamison created the Compass Program, an innovative step to connect unemployed child support obligors with community partners for education and job placement. This ongoing collaborative effort with the Child Support Enforcement Agency has directed many into a path of success. Judge Jamison also brings her expertise to several professional and community organizations, serves her community through heading outreach programs to help homeless teens and families, and consistently used her power and education to empower and serve others. Jamison was also recently elected to the 10th District Court of Appeals, were she will no doubt continue to make positive changes.

The NASW Ohio Chapter is proud to award The Honorable Terri Jamison as the Region 5 Elected Official of the Year. Jamison will be honored, along with the other Region 5 2020 NASW Award Winners, at a regional award celebration.
